First Impressions
Walking up to Villa Margarita for the first time, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a three-star property on Mykonos — you know how the island can be with inflated expectations. But this little gem in Megali Ammos completely changed my perspective. The whitewashed building sits perfectly positioned just above the beach, and there’s something refreshingly authentic about it that feels more genuine than some of the flashier places I’ve stayed on the island.
The Perfect Mykonos Spot
What really struck me about the location is how it manages to feel both peaceful and connected at the same time. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Megali Ammos beach — which, let me tell you, is one of those spots that locals actually use rather than just tourists. Mykonos town is close enough that you can easily walk there for dinner (about 15 minutes along the coastal path), but you’re far enough away that you actually get some quiet time. I mean, finding free parking anywhere on this island is basically a miracle, so having it right on-site was a huge relief.
The Room Experience
I’ll be honest — I was skeptical about how comfortable a three-star room would actually be, especially after some less-than-stellar experiences elsewhere in the Cyclades. But whatever they’ve done with the beds here really works. I’m someone who usually tosses and turns the first night in a new place, but I slept like a rock. The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re thoughtfully designed with those classic Cycladic touches — thick walls that keep things cool, small windows that frame the view just right, and surprisingly good storage space for a Greek island hotel.
Morning Rituals
The continental breakfast setup is pretty straightforward, but they do it well. Fresh local yogurt, decent coffee (which honestly can be hit or miss in Greece), and they usually have some local pastries that change depending on what’s available. What I really appreciated was being able to sit outside with my coffee and actually hear the waves rather than traffic. The morning light hitting the terrace around 8 AM is something special — you get this soft, golden glow that makes even instant coffee taste better.
Why Guests Love It
After talking to other travelers during my stay, it became clear why this place scores so well with couples especially. There’s something about the combination of that prime location, genuinely comfortable accommodations, and the relaxed vibe that just works for a romantic getaway. You’re not paying five-star prices, but you’re getting an experience that feels more authentic than a lot of the resort-style places. The staff genuinely seems to care about making sure you have what you need, and on an island where tourism can sometimes feel pretty transactional, that personal touch makes all the difference.
