First Impressions

When I first pulled up to Saint John Hotel Villas & Spa, honestly, I wasn’t prepared for how stunning this place would be. Perched on the hillside of Agios Ioannis in Mykonos, this five-star property feels like it was carved right into the landscape — all white stone and infinity pools that seem to spill directly into the Aegean Sea. The luxury here isn’t flashy or over-the-top, it’s more like… well, imagine if someone with impeccable taste and unlimited resources decided to build their dream retreat.

Location & Setting

You know what’s brilliant about Agios Ioannis? It’s far enough from Mykonos Town to feel peaceful, but close enough that you’re not stuck if you want to explore. I mean, couples absolutely love it here — and I can see why, with that 9.2 location rating making perfect sense once you’re watching the sunset from your terrace. The beach below is this gorgeous stretch of golden sand, and unlike some of the party beaches on the island, it actually maintains that serene, romantic vibe. Plus, there’s free private parking on site, which honestly is a godsend on an island where finding a spot can be a nightmare.

The Accommodations

The room I stayed in was more like a private villa — spacious, with traditional Cycladic architecture but all the modern touches you’d expect from a luxury property. Those beds they’re famous for? Absolutely worth the hype. I’m usually a light sleeper, but I slept like a rock every single night. The marble bathrooms are gorgeous, and most rooms have these incredible sea views that make you want to just sit on your private terrace with a glass of wine and forget the rest of the world exists.

Dining & Amenities

The continental breakfast is served with those panoramic views, and while it’s not the most elaborate spread I’ve seen, everything is fresh and high-quality — think local yogurt, fresh pastries, and perfectly ripe fruit. The spa here is where things get really special though. It’s built into the hillside with treatment rooms that overlook the sea, and after a session in their hot tub, I felt completely renewed. The fitness center is well-equipped too, though honestly, with views like these, I preferred taking morning walks along the coastal paths.
