First Impressions

When I first pulled up to Mykonos Ark Villas, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from the name — but wow, this place completely surprised me. Perched in the quieter Ftelia area near Elia, this four-star property feels like someone’s incredibly stylish private retreat rather than a typical hotel. The whitewashed architecture follows that classic Cycladic style you see all over the island, but there’s something more refined about it here — maybe it’s the way the buildings seem to flow naturally into the hillside.

Location & Getting Around

You know what I love about staying in Ftelia? You’re close enough to the action but far enough away to actually relax. Elia Beach is just a short walk down the hill, and it’s one of those beaches that locals still use — not completely overrun with tourists yet. The drive to Mykonos Town takes about 15 minutes, which means you can easily hit the famous windmills or Little Venice for sunset, then retreat back to your peaceful base. I actually preferred this to staying right in the chaos of the main town.

The Accommodations

My room was more like a mini sanctuary, honestly. The design strikes this perfect balance between traditional Greek island charm and modern comfort — think exposed stone walls but with excellent air conditioning and a rainfall shower. The private terrace was the real winner though; I spent most mornings out there with coffee, looking out over the Aegean. The beds are seriously comfortable (I’m picky about this), and there’s actually decent storage space, which you don’t always get in boutique places like this.

Dining & Daily Life

The on-site restaurant serves this fantastic Mediterranean cuisine that focuses on local ingredients — the grilled octopus was probably the best I had on the entire island. Breakfast is served on the main terrace, and I mean, eating fresh Greek yogurt with honey while watching the sunrise over the sea? It doesn’t get much better. The staff here really knows their stuff too; they gave me recommendations for hidden beaches and local tavernas that I never would have found otherwise.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both intimate and sophisticated without being pretentious. The couples I met here were all raving about it — and I can see why it gets such high ratings for romantic getaways. There’s something about the combination of the stunning location, the thoughtful design, and the genuine hospitality that just works. Plus, you get that sense of discovering something special rather than staying at just another cookie-cutter resort. If you want to experience Mykonos without the crowds but still have easy access to everything, this is honestly your best bet.
