First Impressions

Walking up to Island Mykonos Suites, you immediately get that feeling — you know, when a place just looks right. It’s tucked away in Kaminaki, which honestly is one of those spots that feels like you’ve discovered something the cruise ship crowds haven’t figured out yet. The property has this clean, minimalist Cycladic vibe going on, but it doesn’t feel sterile or overly polished. I mean, this is a four-star place, so your expectations should be set accordingly — it’s refined without being stuffy.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I love about the location — you’re close enough to Mýkonos City that you can walk to the main action, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the chaos every single minute. The windmills are practically next door, which makes for some pretty spectacular sunset shots if you’re into that sort of thing. You can actually hear the waves from certain parts of the property, and there’s something really calming about that constant background sound. Getting to Little Venice or the main shopping area takes maybe ten minutes on foot, fifteen if you’re taking your time and stopping for photos.

The Suites

The room I stayed in had this gorgeous terrace that looked out toward the Aegean — honestly, I spent way more time out there than I expected to. The interiors are what you’d expect from modern Greek hospitality: white walls, pops of blue, and everything feels fresh and well-maintained. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious, and I appreciated that they didn’t go overboard with unnecessary amenities. Sometimes less really is more, you know? The air conditioning worked perfectly, which in August heat is basically non-negotiable.

What Makes It Special

There’s this quiet sophistication to the whole place that I really appreciated. The staff seems to genuinely care about making sure you’re comfortable without being overly attentive — they strike that perfect balance where you feel looked after but not watched. The pool area is small but beautifully designed, and it never felt crowded during my stay. What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to create these little pockets of privacy throughout the property. Even when other guests were around, it felt like you had your own space to breathe.

I can see why couples rate this place so highly — there’s definitely a romantic atmosphere here that feels natural rather than forced. The sunset views are genuinely spectacular, and having that private terrace space means you can enjoy them without fighting for a good spot at some crowded bar. It’s sophisticated enough for a special occasion but relaxed enough that you can just unwind and enjoy being in one of the most beautiful places in the Greek islands.
